Conector Galicia accelerator holds open call for startups in digital transformation

- May 8, 2018

Conector Galicia Startup Accelerator launches its second open call to support Spanish startups that contribute to digital transformation in the Northwest provinces.

The second edition of the Conector Galicia (Gal#2) acceleration program connects Spanish startups with the major Galician corporations and industries.

Gal#2 is focused on tech startups in the seed phase whose entrepreneurs want to lead in digital transformation. Conector Galicia is looking for innovative projects in ecommerce, retail, and mobility that use technologies such as IoT, Big data, Blockchain or Virtual reality and that have a prototype in the market, a trained team, and potential for growth and internationalization.

Interested entrepreneurs have until June 18 to submit their applications and may do so here.

Conector Galicia analysts will pre-select the best projects to present their startups to Conector’s mentors in June at Startup Day — the private event where partners and mentors will vote and choose which projects deserve to enter the second Conector Galicia acceleration program.

The accelerator, which is part of the Network of Accelerators of Galicia, will work with the finalists for five months, from September 2018 to January 2019.

During this time the selected entrepreneurs will have the advice of a board of mentors chosen according to the needs of each project, as well as aid in the form of partners of the companies collaborating with the accelerator and training sessions, in addition to having free working spaces.

At the end of the acceleration program, startups will have the opportunity to present their project in front of the most important investors, VC and business angels in the country on the Demo Day, to be held in February 2019.

Currently, the accelerator already has a network of 250 national mentors with new incorporations of the main Galician talent such as:

  • David Alayón, Head of Innovation Projects at Inditex
  • Betty Lepina, E-commerce Manager at Adolfo Domínguez
  • Gerard Gracia, Head of Digital Garage at Estrella Galicia
  • Adolfo Fernández, Global Program Manager at Google
  • Luis del Pozo, CMO at Jazztel
  • Rubén Ferreiro, CEO at Grupo Viko
  • Carlos Blanco, Managing Partner at Encomenda VC

This is the second horizontal program that Conector Galicia has launched on its own.

Lalo García, Director of Conector Galicia and head of programs in the region, sees this second program as an opportunity for those solutions that help boost digital transformation.
