Canada seeks to hire 4,000 people from around the globe via virtual job fair

Spain, Canada is on a hiring spree.

In the latest sign of efforts to spur economic growth during the pandemic, Kanata North Business Association (KNBA), which is Canada’s largest technology park, is introducing the TechNATA 2.0 Virtual Career Fair in partnership with the International Talent Acquisition Centre. The fair will be held October 6-7 online.

KNBA said it is seeking to connect job-seekers both in Canada and abroad with over 100 companies that are looking to fill an estimated 4,000 open positions. It will be the largest virtual job fair in Canada.

The park is a technology hub for Canada, housing North America’s first integrated Autonomous Vehicle test track, a host of multinational tech firms like Apple, BlackBerry and Cisco, as well as smaller companies and technology accelerators such as Solace and L-SPARK.

While more jobs were created across Canada during August, and new data from Statistics Canada shows the employment rate had a 1.4 percent increase from the previous month, the employment numbers are still 1.1 million fewer than they were prior to COVID-19.

Kanata North Business Association, an organization that represents over 543 member companies located in the area, is a core part of Ottawa’s economic development future.

Said Jaime Petten, President and Executive Director, “The Discover TechNATA brand is pivoting its product offering to a full suite of virtual talent attraction programs in order to support knowledge-based businesses in the technology park in their efforts to attract and retain global talent during this period of economic recovery.”
